This bundle contains six units that give specific word examples of each syllable word type. The six syllable types of reading are Closed, Vowel-Consonant-e, Open, r-Controlled, Vowel Digraph & Diphthong, and Final Stable. Each unit provides a plethora of word lists that target each syllable type. Teaching reading by syllable types provides students with a clear-cut understanding of the English language. The basic overall purpose of learning syllable type reading is to give students 6 reading strategies to aid them in chunking longer words into short, readable parts. With each syllable type, students will learn what strategy to use to help them figure out the vowel sound in each syllable of a word. Once they know the sound of the vowel, then reading will become manageable for them, and they will begin to have more confidence and experience success. Also, you will find this approach to be systematic for you and the student. As the teacher, you can teach with consistency as you watch your students connect the dots in reading!
The lists can be used for homework, small group work, or mini word assessments, and the smiley faces can be marked to help students to know which words they read correctly and which ones they still need to continue to practice reading.
**Just a note – there are no activities with this bundle. It is strictly word lists.
